In a resolute counterinsurgency operation on Monday, March 4, 2024, Nigerian Army forces achieved a significant victory by neutralizing Maikusa, identified as the second-in-command in the notorious terrorist cell led by Modi Modi in Katsina State. The operation, executed in Kurfi and Safana Local Government Areas, showcased the military's unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism in the region.

During the fierce encounter, troops confronted vehement resistance from violent extremists, yet demonstrated exceptional bravery, overpowering the terrorists with superior firepower. The successful outcome led to the elimination of Maikusa and three other terrorists, marking a crucial milestone in the ongoing efforts to dismantle the terrorists' stronghold.
